The nature of work has also changed. Productivity is less tied to staying up all night and putting in long hours. Problem solving and relationship management are more relevant now and require people who ask questions and communicate/apply creative solutions. A work force whipped fear of flying staplers and verbal / emotional abuse will not perform as well in current kind of work.
